Flower City 1872 will kick off the 2023 United Women’s Soccer season, hosting FC Buffalo at the Rochester Community Sports Complex on Saturday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m.
UWS has unveiled the schedule on its website.
The game will be a rematch of the the two division winners from 2022. Playing as the Rochester Lady Lancers, the team tied FC Buffalo, which was awarded a playoff berth.
The team will compete in a 17-team East Division, although Flower City, like every other side, will play an unbalanced schedule. In fact, Flower City will perform in only eight regular-season games this year, compared to 10 last season.
Flower City 1872 will play in the first game of a doubleheader at the stadium as Flower City Union will meet Chattanooga FC in a National Independent Soccer Association match at 6 p.m.
Most Flower City 1872 home games will be part of a doubleheader with the men’s squad.
After its home opener, the team will welcome BC United on Saturday, May 27 at 2:30 p.m. At the present time, it is a stand-alone game as the men’s squad is not scheduled to play.
The women’s team will then hit the road for its next two contests. Flower City 1872 will visit FC Buffalo on Friday, June 2 at 7 p.m. and then Steel City FC on Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m.
Flower City will return home to host the Erie Commodores on Saturday, June 24 at 2:30 p.m., before playing at FC Berlin on Saturday, June 24 (TBD).
In its final home game of the regular season, the squad will play FC Berlin on Saturday, July 1 at 2:30 p.m., before playing at the Erie Commodores on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m.
The team is coached by Adam Schwartz, who directed the Lady Lancers in the UWS last season.
