Gotham FC completes a three-game road trip against the Chicago Red Stars at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.
In its most recent match, Gotham FC (3-2-0) earned a 1-1 draw at the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL Challenge Cup on Wednesday night.
“I thought we showed our kind of futbol, our personality, our character, and the winning mentality to go after that game,” Gotham FC head coach Juan Carlos Amoros said in a statement. “We had players like Delanie Sheehan, Nealy Martin, and Michelle Betos who have not played many minutes, and they were fantastic.”
The team has been led by forward Lynn Williams, who has scored five goals in seven matches across all competitions. On Tuesday she was named to the NWSL Best XI of the Month. Goalkeeper Abby Smith has started all five regular season games, securing two clean sheets.
Williams has attempted 24 shots this campaign, second only to Sophia Smith (28). Twelve of those 24 shots have hit the target.
Eight players have appeared in all five regular season games: Smith; defenders Kristen Edmonds and Kelley O’Hara; midfielders Allie Long, Kristie Mewis, Yazmeen Ryan, and McCall Zerboni; and forward Williams. Sinead Farrelly has been utilized as a substitute for a team-high of four times.
