NJ/NY Gotham FC announced today that the National Women’s Soccer League team has waived goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff.

Hancuff did not see any action with Gotham FC.

“I want to thank Gotham for giving me an opportunity to get my foot in the door in the NWSL,” Hancuff said in a statement. “Thank you to the amazing fans and teammates that have continued to support my career while being on loan in Australia. Even though I will miss the NJ/NY area, I look forward to taking the next steps in my career.”

Hancuff was selected by Gotham FC as the 34th overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. After spending the 2022 season with Gotham FC, she joined Brisbane Roar FC on loan last November for the 2022-23 A-League season in Australia.

She started her college career at Villanova University before transferring to Clemson University, recording a combined 29-13-4 mark.

“We are thankful for Hensley and her contributions to the club,” Gotham FC general manager and head of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West said in a statement. “We wish her the best and look forward to following Hensley as she continues her soccer career.”GONE
