Family, friends and former teammates of Jim Pollihan, will honor the former U.S. men’s national team player and Rochester Lancers captain with a celebration of life this Saturday.
Pollihan passed away at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 12, a day before his 69th birthday. He was 68.
Visitation will be at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, Pa. 17110. from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.
Afterwards, a celebration of Pollihan’s life will be held at 3 p.m.
Pollihan started his professional soccer career with the Rochester Lancers and continued it with Houston Summit and Baltimore Blast. He was an assistant coach with the Blast and the first head coach of the Harrisburg Heat. Pollihan continued to play soccer after his retirement. He was retired from the Commonwealth of PA Department of Revenue.
Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Barbara (Rustic) Pollihan, his daughter, Madison N. Pollihan of Birdsnest, Va., his sister, Ellen Mann of St. Louis, Mo., 3 brothers, Tom Pollihan of St. Louis, Mo., Bob Pollihan and his wife, Pam of St. Louis, MO, Jack Pollihan and his wife, Nanci of St. Louis, Mo., his mother-in-law, Ruby Rustic of Harrisburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
