The National Women’s Soccer League announced Monday that it has issued NJ/NY Gotham FC a fine for announcing the signing of a player prior to the full execution of the player’s agreement.

The league said Gotham FC violated section of the League Communications Manual, and for ignoring a league directive regarding the announcement.

The NWSL did not say the amount of the fine or who the player was. But there has been speculation that the player in question was U.S. women’s national team defender Kelley O’Hara, who announced she had signed with Gotham FC on the Men in Blazers show in Brooklyn last week.
