Two-time world champion Kelley O’Hara revealed on Tuesday night that she will be playing for NJ/NY Gotham FC in 2023.

While appearing on the Men in Blazer’s Show in New York City, the 34-year-old O’Hara walked to her seat on stage.

Before sitting down, she took off a red sweat shirt that had USA emblazed on it, revealing an NJ/NY Gotham FC shirt.

The crowd erupted in applause.

To which co-host Roger Bennett replied, “Football’s coming home!”

O’Hara played for Sky Blue FC (which changed its name to Gotham FC last year) from 2013-17.

A fierce outside back and a member of the 2015 and 2019 world champion U.S. women’s national team, O’Hara will be a welcome addition to a 4-17-1 team that finished last among the 12 teams in the National Women’s Soccer League this past season while conceding a league-high 48 goals.

In 2022, she played for the Washington Spirit.

“Kelley is a force on and off the field and is beloved by fans across the world,” Spirit owner Michele Kang n said in a statement. “She made a lasting impact on the Spirit and in the District community; Our entire organization is grateful to her and I personally wish her the best.”

Added club president president president Mark Krikorian: “We can’t say enough about Kelley. The talent, work ethic and experience she brought to this club were undoubtedly key in helping the Spirit earn its first league title in 2021. She will forever be a member of DC sports history and we wish her all the best in the future of her career.”

A member of the USWNT since 2010, O’Hara has made 156 appearances and has scored three goals.

She also has played for FC Gold Pride and Boston Breakers in Women’s Professional Soccer, and the Utah Royals in the NWSL.
