John Knight was named the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association’s Boys Competitive Coach of the Year Award at Eastern New York’s Hall of Fame Banquet on Nov. 5.

The festivities celebrated Eastern New York’s 50th anniversary and was held at Marina del Rey in the Bronx.

Jackson Heights’ Frankie Pampin shared the award with Knight.

The Chatham, N.Y. native served as an Olympic Development Program coach in Eastern New York from 2013-20. He coaches the New York Elite Alleycats boys team born in 2005, leading the side to the Northeast Academy League championship and Black Rock Spring Showcase title in 2022 and the Potomac Invitational championship in 2021.

He guided his teams to five consecutive Eastern District Soccer League titles from 2008-12. Knight also coached Ichabod Crane High School to the New York State Class B championship in 2012.

Knight served as liaison for the Danish national team and Under-23 team when they played Canada and Mexico during a 10-day visit to Arizona in 2013.
