The Long Island Rough Riders and Nassau County have announced they will host a World Cup Watch Party for the United States-England match at the Mitchel Field Complex Indoor Facility located in Uniondale N.Y. at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
The Watch Party is in partnership between Nassau County and County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Rough Riders.
The Rough Riders also will host a free clinic open to all youth players from 1:00pm to 1:45 p.m., which will crossover to the big event.
“The World Cup is always a uniting force in support of U.S. Soccer while also inspiring youth soccer players,” Rough Riders CEO Peter Zaratin said in a statement. “The Watch Party is a great way to bring that unity and inspiration to Nassau County.
The match, which will be televised by FOX, will be the second Group B game for both teams.
The event is free, and it is open to all Nassau County residents including soccer fans, players, and coaches.
The Rough Riders have partnered adidas and Soccer.com for raffles and giveaways, including signed cleats by U.S. men’s national team midfielder Weston McKennie.
Doors open at 1:30pm with prizes for the first 50 attendees, courtesy of Soccer.com.
The USA will kick off their World Cup in Qatar against Wales on Nov. 21. After playing England, the Americans will conclude group play against Iran on Nov. 29. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout round.
The Rough Riders recently completed one of their most successful seasons for their men’s, women’s and Academy teams as all three squads enjoyed winning campaigns. The Rough Riders women reached the USL W League playoffs. The men’s team qualified for the USL League Two championship game, finishing as runners-up to the Ventura County Fusion.
