Three St. John’s University women’s players received postseason honors from the Big East on Wednesday morning.

Brooke Boyd and Jessica Garziano were named to the first and second team, respectively, and Emily Riggins was named to the All-Freshman team.

Boyd enjoyed an outstanding year at center back. The graduate student from Silver Spring, Md. scored two goals, including a crucial game-tying tally in a 1-1 draw against Creighton University

Garziano earned an All Big East honor for the second consecutive season, after being named to the second team in 2021. The senior midfielder tied for the team lead with five assists and paced the Johnnies in shots and shots on goal with 37 and 17, respectively. The Melville, N.Y. native scored three goals in her final season in Queens.

Riggins made a name for herself in her first year as a Johnnie. The Bethpage, N.Y. native logged more than 1,250 minutes in 17 starts, primarily at fullback. Riggins recorded an assist in the 1-0 win over Providence College. The defender has played with a maturity well beyond her years and has been a key to the Red Storm’s success. Boyd and Riggins were integral parts of defense that allowed 14 goals overall and six in conference play.

The Red Storm will return to action on Thursday att 4 p.m. when it takes on No. 24 Xavier University in the semifinals the Big East Championship. Kick-off from the Maryland SoccerPlex is set for 4 p.m. The game will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
