The Fordham University men scored early, but surrendered a late goal and was forced to settle for a 1-1 Atlantic 10 draw with Saint Joseph’s University at Sweeney Field in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday night.

The Rams (3-2-8, 1-1-4) scored in the sixth minute. Ben Shepherd sent a slick ball left into the box to on oncoming Daniel Espeleta. Espeleta slotted a six-yard shot inside the right post past goalkeeper Luis Ludosan for his third goal of the season.

Fordham held that lead for much of the game until the 86th minute, when the Hawks (2-5-7, 1-1-4) found an equalizer. A bouncing ball slipped down the far side, finding Luke Johnson. Johnson pushed the ball to Omry Perel, who shot over goalkeeper Callum James and under the bar for his second goal of the season.

Each keeper had two saves.

The Rams will travel to Duquense University for a 7 p.m. contest on Oct. 22.
