Sophomore Eliot Goldthorp scored twice, including an Olimpico goal, while Ryan Carmichael added a goal and Oliver Svalander had two assists in the Hofstra University men’s 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association victory over the University of Delaware at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. on Saturday night.

The Pride, which extended its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1), moved to 6-2-1 and 3-1-1 in the CAA with the win. Delaware dropped to 2-6-2 overall and 0-4-1 in league play.

Goldthorp tallied his first goal of the game at 12:21 when he bent in his corner kick just inside the far post. The Olimpico goal gave the Pride a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Goldthorp buried a cross from Svalander into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

Delaware cut its deficit in half at 53:35 as Orri Thorhallsson scored off a pass from Petros Fokas. However, Svalander found Carmichael at the top of the box at 59:51 and the junior forward chipped a shot over Blue Hens keeper Adam Vik to close out the scoring.

Vik finished with eight saves as Hofstra peppered him with 11 shots on goal and 20 shots overall. Hofstra Keeper Wessel Speel did not record a save as the Blue Hens attempted only one shot on goal and six shots overall thanks to an outstanding defensive effort from the Pride.
