Dagny Run Petursdottir scored a second-half goal gave the Hofstra University women the lead but Monmouth University tallied the equalizer late as the teams battled to a 1-1 draw in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn in West Long Branch, N.J. on Thursday night.

Hofstra moved to 6-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play. Monmouth is 8-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the CAA.

A scoreless first half saw Hofstra with the only shot on goal. The Pride finally broke through at the 62:13 mark as Krista Agostinello sent a cross to an unmarked Petursdottir in front of the net and the freshman midfielder headed it in for the 1-0 lead.

Petursdottir’s goal was her second of the season and second in three games.

Nine minutes later, the Hawks got on the board as Kayla Reed sent Summer Reimet in and her shot glanced off a charging keeper Skylar Kuzmich (two saves) and kept rolling into the net to make it 1-1.

Monmouth keeper Cassandra Coster finished with three.

Hofstra visits Northeastern on Sunday at 1 p.m.
