Hofstra University honored its 2021 Colonial Athletic Association women’s championship team prior to the game, but it could not emulate last year’s squad success on Sunday night.

Lexi Romero scored the lone goal to lift Oregon to a 1-0 victory over the Pride at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.

It was Hofstra’s second home loss in 29 games. The Pride (4-2-1) is 25-2-2 over that span.

The Ducks (2-2-3) got on the board at 37:34 when Ajanae Respass sent a low hard cross right along the end line. The ball got under goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich and found the foot of Romero, who knocked it in for her second goal this season.

Hofstra had several good opportunities but the Oregon defense, led by goalkeeper Leah Freeman, stymied the Pride. Kuzmich also played well in goal, as she made three saves.

The Hofstra defense limited the Ducks to five shots on goal and nine shots.

The Pride hosts Princeton University Thursday at 7 p.m.
