NJ/NY Gotham FC’s woes continued Sunday as it dropped it ninth consecutive game to league-leaders Kansas City Current, a 1-0 loss at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. on Sunday night.

Hallie Mace tallied the lone goal of the National Women’s Soccer League match off a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Gotham FC (4-14-0, 12 points) remained in the basement while Kansas City is unbeaten in 13 successive matches. The Jersey side is 1-8-0 at home, with four contests remaining in the season.

Claire Lavogez was in possession of the ball and squirming down the left side of the penalty area as she was fouled by defender Ellie Jean resulting in a penalty. Mace roofed her attempt as goalkeeper Michelle Betos dove in the right direction but could not stop the shot.
