Brown University scored twice in the first half and added a third in the final half as it posted a 3-0 win over the Hofstra University women at Stevenson-Pincince Field in Providence, R.I. on Sunday afternoon.

The Pride suffered its first loss of the season and fell to 3-1-1. Brown improved to 4-0.

The Bears opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Miya Grant-Claavijo sent a shot past goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich (four saves) with Ava Seelenfreund getting the assist.

Seelenfreund tallied an unassisted goal just about three minutes later to make it 2-0. Brittany Raphino increased the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 61st minute.

The Bears defense put a clamp on the Pride offense, limiting Hofstra to just two shots and one on target. Kuzmich came up big on several of her saves, stopping a pair of one-on-one opportunities.

Brown outshot the Pride, 16-2, and had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Hofstra will continue its three-game road swing at Saint Joseph’s on Thursday at 6 p.m.
