Freshman Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir scored two goals and the Hofstra University defense limited UAlbany to one shot on goal as the Pride came away with a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.
Hofstra remained unbeaten at 2-0-1, while the Great Danes dropped to 0-4.
The winners 7-0 all-time versus UAlbany and are 25-1-2 at home since the 2019 season.
The Pride struck in the ninth minute when an Albany defender headed in a Hofstra corner kick for an own goal.
In the second half, the Pride wasted little time in the second half as Thorhallsdottir headed a cross from Margaret Peterson past goalkeeper Megan Hart only 2:22 in to make it a 2-0 game.
The Icelandic midfielder connected on her second of the game five minutes later when she sent a short corner to Krista Agostinello, who returned the pass at the top of the box. That allowed Thorhallsdottir to send a rocket into the upper left corner to close out the scoring.
The Great Danes had one good shot to get on the scoreboard, but Hofstra keeper Skylar Kuzmich made a lunging save to knock Sahara Zingaino’s shot over the crossbar in the second half.
Hart finished with two saves in 64:38. Gabriella Terranova played the final 25:22 and did not allow a goal or make a save.
Hofstra returns to action at Fordham University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
