The Massapequa SC Under-23 team defeated its New Hyde Park counterparts to win the Ryder-Vass Summer U-23 Cup at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa Park, N.Y. on Sunday night.

The teams battled to a 1-1 draw before Massapequa SC won the shootout, 4-3, to capture the Long Island Soccer Football League summer tournament.

Massapequa SC finished third in the West Division with a 5-2-2 mark and 17 points, behind first-place NHP (8-1-0) before gathering steam in the playoffs.

The squad defeated SUSA FC U-23 Black as the visiting side in the quarterfinals on July 26, and then host Garden City U-23 in the semifinals on July 31.
