In the wake of the 10 killings in a shooting at a supermarket in the Northwestern New York city, Flower City Union will hold a Stand With Buffalo Food Drive on Saturday.
The National Independent Soccer Association club will accept food donations at its game against Chattanooga FC at the Rochester Community Sports Complex in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday.
The donations will go to FeedMore WNY, according to the team.
Among the items being requested:
* Nonperishable protein items
* Shelf-stable fruits and vegetables
* Beverages
* Snack items
Flower City will have a drop-off bin for collection.
Gates open at 5 p.m. for the match, which will have a 6 p.m. kickoff.
“Our neighbors to the West are suffering in a multitude of ways,” Flower City said in a press release.
“The Tops Market where the tragedy took place was the sole food source of that community. Their community is ROOTED in spaces like that Tops Market. The grocery store is now shutdown indefinitely.

“At this Saturday’s match we will be holding a FOOD DRIVE for nonperishable items that will be delivered out to Buffalo by one of our staffers, Justin whom is a Buffalo native.”
