Kayla Kent-Moreira has been named the new operating partner as president, CEO and COO of the Rochester Lancers, the club announced on Wednesday.
Moreira has been a fixture in the Rochester pro soccer scene since 2010. She began her soccer career as an intern with the Rochester Rhinos, joining the indoor Lancers in 2012 and helping them become one a successful indoor team.
“I’m excited to be one of the few women in soccer to operate a team,” Kent-Moreira said in a statement. “I’ve done it all since 2010 and I feel confident that the Lady Lancers will lead the UWS on and off the field.”
The Lady Lancers will kick off their United Women’s Soccer season at the FC Buffalo on May 28, hosting their Western New York rivals at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, N.Y. on Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m.
Moreira left the Lancers in 2015 to be with her husband Marcelo as he continued his soccer career as a goalkeeper with the St. Louis Ambush (Major Arena Soccer League).
In 2016, she returned to Rochester to work with the Western New York Flash, getting the opportunity to work with U.S. women’s national team players such as Sam Mewis, Lynn Williams and Abby Dahlkemper.
She returned to the Lancers in 2018 to help launch the Lancers (National Premier Soccer League), Lady Lancers and the M2 and MASL Lancers.
“Kayla loves this game and we as a soccer community are lucky to have someone like her to lead our teams,” Lancers owner Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo said in a statement.
