Red Bulls II continued its early-season woes, dropping a 1-0 home decision to the Sacramento Republic FC in a USLĀ  Championship game at MSU Soccer Park at Montclair State University on Sunday afternoon.

New York has won only once this season, dropping to 1-7-1.

Sacramento (4-2-3, 18) scored the lone goal of the encounter in the 88th minute. During a fast break forward Luther Archimede played a ball across the penalty area to Maalique Foster, who found the ball and placed it in the back of the net.

Red Bulls II defender Juan Castillo made his first appearance as captain for the club in his ninth start of the season. He is the only player to start every match this season for the hosts.

Midfielder Cameron Harper made his first start of the season, playing 45 minutes.

Giannis Nikopolidis made his second career start and recorded a career-high four saves in the match.

New York will travel to Trinity Health Stadium to battle Hartford Athletic on Saturday, May 14 at 7 p.m.
