Adam Schwartz was named head coach of the Rochester Lady Lancers for the United Women’s Soccer season, the team announced on Thursday.

Schwartz has been with the club since 2017 as the assistant coach for the National Premier Soccer League and the Major Arena Soccer League Lancers.

“I am honored to be coaching the Lady Lancers this upcoming season,” he said in a statement. “I expect our team to excel both technically and tactically, while demonstrating a relentless work ethic on the pitch. My top priority is to continue to establish the Rochester Lady Lancers as an elite organization on and off the soccer field.”

Schwartz, who has USSF National B and Youth coaching licenses, has been head coach of the Aquinas Institute girls varsity team and the Rochester Lancers Academy. He also was an Olympic Development Program coach from 2002-09.

LANCERS ANNOUNCE COACHING STAFF

Schwartz will be joined by Michelle Valentino, Tad Valentino and John Berardicurti as his assistant coaches.

Berardicurti is no stranger to the Lancers, joining Schwartz as an assistant of the MASL Lancers from 2018-2020. Valentino played for Nazareth College and for the Rochester Ravens where she competed against Mia Hamm in the height of her playing career. Valentino played for Aquinas Institute and went on to play collegiate soccer for four years before focusing on his coaching career at the youth, high school and collegiate levels.

“I have known all four coaches for years. They are great people and great people make great coaches,” Lancers owner Salvatore “SoccerSam” Fantauzzo said in a statement

The Lady Lancers will return to Aquinas Institute for the 2022 season. All home games will be streamed live on LancersTV.

The UWS is the second division of American women’s soccer and has more than 90 teams competing in two leagues. The Lady Lancers play in the East conference of the UWS with fifteen teams.
