ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Lady Lancers will return for the 2022 United Women’s Soccer season, the club announced on Monday.
An all-new coaching staff, schedule, and players will be announced in April. Home games will be played at the Aquinas Institute and will be broadcast live on LancersTV.
Fans will be able to watch games in person for free.
“We simply ask our fans to consider making a donation to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester in place of purchasing a ticket. We need to kick back to this great organization,” Lancers owner SoccerSam Fantauzzo said in a statement.
“As the only local breast cancer nonprofit providing a range of programs and services to those in the aftermath of their cancer diagnosis, we thought it was outstanding that our own local women’s soccer team stepped up to ensure these services continue,” Breast Cancer Coalition executive director Holly Anderson said in a statement. “We are awed, inspired and grateful to the Lady Lancers and everyone involved, especially to our friend SoccerSam!”
The UWS is the second division of American women’s soccer and has more than 90 teams competing in two leagues. The Lady Lancers will play in the East conference of the UWS with 15 teams.
“Local companies supporting our team make this all possible, we are excited to help raise money for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester,” Lancers president Kayla Kent-Moreira said.
IDE Family of Dealerships, Palmer Foods, Donuts Delite, Salvatore’s and iHeart Media will return as our title sponsors this season.
In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Lady Lancers will now feature a new look.
The custom pink jerseys and pink track jackets are available to purchase at RLancers.com. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.
The Lady Lancers joined the UWS in 2017. The original Lancers were formed in 1967 and are the oldest professional soccer brand in the United States.
