It doesn’t matter who Oyster Bay United FC plays in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup these days.

The United Premier Soccer League team keeps marching on.

Oyster Bay added another big victory to its burgeoning collection of giant killings as it defeated Hartford City FC, 3-0 in a first-round match at Dillon Stadium in Hartford, Conn. on Tuesday night.

Hartford City competes in the National Premier Soccer League.

Junior Rosero paced the Long Island side with one goal and two assists.

OBU drew drew first blood in the 16th minute as Rosero intercepted a clearance by goalkeeper Carson D’Ambrosio and scored from 21 yards on the right side.

Rosero set up Franco Paz’s goal from the left side in the 32nd minute and Sebastian Ruiz’s score two minutes into injury time as the latter chipped D’Ambrosio from close range.

In the Local Qualifying Round last fall, Oyster Bay eliminated two former Open Cup champions, the N.Y. Pancyprian Freedoms and N.Y. Greek Americans.

Oyster Bay outshot the hosts, 15-4, in a physical game in which the referee handed out eight yellow cards, five to the visiting side.

OBU spoiled a Hartford derby next month as it will face Hartford Athletic (USL Championship) in the second round in Hartford, Conn. on April 7 at 7 p.m.
