QUEENS, N.Y. – Following the program’s 22nd NCAA Division Tournament appearance this past fall, St. John’s men’s head coach Dr. David Masur Monday announced his team’s schedule for the upcoming spring exhibition season.
The Johnnies will host five games, all at Belson Stadium. St. John’s will play collegiate opponents in four matches with the other coming against NYCFC II of the newly formed MLS NEXT Pro.
Admission to all spring St. John’s matches is free.
The Red Storm will open the spring season this Friday, when it entertains Fordham University at 7 p.m. on Belson Stadium.
One week later, the Johnnies will welcome Rutgers for a 7 p.m. start on April 1.
The following Saturday, St. John’s will play another former Big East foe at Belson Stadium, hosting Syracuse for a 2 p.m. kickoff on April 9. The last time the two teams met in Queens on Nov. 24, 2019, St. John’s claimed a 2-1 victory and secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16.
On Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m. the Red Storm will take on NYCFC II of MLS NEXT Pro, which will play its home matches at Belson.
The Red Storm will close out its spring campaign on Friday, April 22, when it takes on reigning Colonial Athletic Association champion and NCAA Round of 16 participant Hofstra University at 5:30 p.m.
This past fall, St. John’s finished at 11-6-3, including a 5-3-2 mark in Big East play, good enough for a third-place finish in a conference that sent five teams to the NCAA Round of 32.
