Red Bulls II recorded its first win of the USL Championship season, defeating Atlanta United 2 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga. on Wednesday night.

NYRBII improved to 1-1-0 while Atlanta dropped to 0-2-0.

New York struck in the 66th minute, as the team’s press led to a turnover in the Atlanta half. Midfielder John Murphy played a ball to forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith, who found the back of the net for the team’s first goal of the season.

Adebayo-Smith’s goal was the fifth of his USL Championship career and first with New York.

Murphy recorded his first professional assist.

Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci recorded his second clean sheet of his career.

Red Bulls II did not allow a shot on goal in the contest, marking the first time it held an opponent without a shot on goal since Sept. 4, 2021, against Hartford Athletic.

The team will host Loudoun United FC at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday at 1 p.m. (ESPN+).
