Don’t expect any U.S. national teams to meet Russia on the playing field any time soon.

The U.S. Soccer Federation on Monday released a statement criticizing Russia after its invasion of Ukraine last week.

“The U.S. Soccer Federation stands united with the people of Ukraine and is unequivocal in our denunciation of the heinous and inhumane invasion by Russia,” the statement said. “We will neither tarnish our global game, nor dishonor Ukraine, by taking the same field as Russia, no matter the level of competition or circumstance, until freedom and peace have been restored.”

The federation has joined several international organizations that have said they will not meet Russia on the playing field, including Sweden, Poland and the Czech Republic in the World Cup qualifying playoffs.
