Christian Pulisic’s fine performance for Chelsea in its UEFA Champions League match was rewarded with a 2-0 Chelsea win and the second goal of the match.

The U.S. men’s national team standout scored in the 63rd minute against Lille in the first leg at Stamford Bridge in London.

With the Blues clinging to a one-goal lead, Pulisic slotted home N’Golo Kanté’s feed past goalkeeper Leo Jardim from eight yards on the left side of the penalty area.

It was his first UCL goal since last year’s semifinals.

Pulisic was replaced by Timo Werner in the 80th minute to a rousing ovation from the home crowd.

USMNT teammate Tim Weah, who was on the Lille bench, did not see any action.

The second leg is set for March 16 at Lille.

The next challenge for Chelsea and Pulisic will be the English League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday
