As one center back returns to the Red Bulls, another goes down with an injury.
Andrés Reyes underwent successful surgery to repair a Jones fracture on Tuesday afternoon with team doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery, the MLS club announced on Wednesday morning. A Jones fracture involves the fifth metatarsal bone of the foot.
Reyes will miss four to-six months. He suffered the injury during an off-season workout at home.
U.S. international Aaron Long, who was sidelined for most of the 2021 season with an Achilles injury, is in training with the team.
The 22-year-old Reyes played 1,417 minutes over 17 starts and 19 games last season. He scored twice and assisted on one goal.
