Two players with local connections were named to the U.S. Under-20 men’s youth national team’s January training camp on Monday.

Midfielders Daniel Edelman and (Red Bulls; Warren, N.J.) and Jack McGlynn (Philadelphia Union; Middle Village, N.Y.) were selected among 26 players by head coach Mikey Varas. McGlynn came up through the B.W. Gottschee system.

The team will train from Jan. 24-Feb. 2 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. as it continues preparations for this summer’s Concacaf U-20 Championship, which will serve as qualification to the 2023 U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2003 are eligible for the 2023 U-20 World Cup cycle. The roster features 13 players born in 2003, 10 born in 2004 and three born in 2005.
