Union Omaha announced Friday that Fordham University standout goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu will return for the 2022 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.

The 2021 USL League One Golden Glove award winner joins five other returnees from the 2021 championship squad.

Nuhu finished the 2021 campaign with a 72 percent save percentage and recorded 10 clean sheets. After a 2020 season in which he led the team in minutes while recording six clean sheets, and a league final appearance, Nuhu has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in USL League One.

“Rashid’s progress has been amazing to watch here,” head coach Jay Mims said in a statement. “He keeps on improving on and off the field. We look forward to continuing his development here in Omaha and we are really excited for the next few years here for him!”

The 6-1, 185-lb. Nuhu said that he was “very excited to be returning to such an amazing club that will continue to help with my development as a player and more importantly a better person.”

“I am thrilled to be back in an incredible culture that has been formed within the team,” he added. “With the guidance and support of Union Omaha, I look forward to continuing to being the best professional player I can be in this wonderful environment that has been created.”
