HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University senior midfielder Hendrik Hebbeker was selected to the first team of the Scholar All-America team, it was announced on Thursday.
Hebbeker was also a first team Scholar All-East Region pick. He became the sixth Hofstra men’s soccer player to earn Scholar All-America honors, joining Michael Todd (2006), Chris Griebsch (2013), Joseph Holland (2015), Sean Nealis (2018) and Matthew Vowinkel (2019).
A Cologne, Germany native, Hebbeker posted a 3.97 grade point average as a mathematics major. A CoSIDA first team Academic All-American as well, Hebbeker recorded nine goals and tied for the team lead with 11 assists for 29 points this season. He helped Hofstra to an 18-2-2 record, a Colonial Athletic Association title and a spot in the third round of the NCAA Division I tournament
A second team United Soccer Coaches All-American, he was also selected as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and earned United Soccer Coaches first team All-Atlantic Region honors. Hebbeker was a first team All-CAA selection and ranked fifth nationally in assists and 12th in points. He tied for second in the CAA in assists, was fourth in goals, and third in points. The 11 assists were tied for the third most in a season in program history and his 29 points tied for ninth on the Hofstra single season list.
