New York City FC will play Santos de Guapiles of Costa Rica in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Concacaf Champions League, it was determined in a draw in Miami on Wednesday evening.

The Round of 16 series will be held Feb. 15-17 (first leg) and Feb. 22-24 (second leg).

That round will be followed by home and away quarterfinal matches in March and semifinals in April. The two-legged final is scheduled for the last week of April (first leg) and the first week of May (second leg).

NYCFC clinched a berth in the competition by capturing the MLS Cup last weekend.

The 16 clubs participating in the 2022 SCCL have been divided into eight Round of 16 match-ups:

Matchup #1: Club Leon (MEX) vs CD Guastatoya (GUA)

Matchup #2: Seattle Sounders FC (USA) vs FC Motagua (HON)

Matchup #3: Colorado Rapids (USA) vs Comunicaciones FC (GUA)

Matchup #4: New York City FC (USA) vs Santos de Guapiles (CRC)

Matchup #5: Pumas UNAM (MEX) vs Deportivo Saprissa (CRC)

Matchup #6: New England Revolution (USA) vs Cavaly AS (HAI)

Matchup #7: CF Montreal (CAN) vs Club Santos Laguna (MEX)

Matchup #8: Cruz Azul (MEX) vs Hamilton Forge FC (CAN)

For the Round of 16, the clubs from Pot 1 (highest ranked) will play the first leg away and the second leg at home. For the 1uarterfinals, the Round of 16 winners of matchups 1, 3, 5, and 7 will play the first leg away and the second leg at home.

For the semifinals and ginals, the best performing clubs in the earlier rounds of the competition will play the first leg away and the second leg at home (based on wins, draws, and, if required, goal difference).

Concacaf will announce a complete schedule, including kickoff times and other details in the coming days.

The event was hosted by TUDN’s sports anchor Ramses Sandoval and sports announcer Kaylyn Kyle.

Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio, Director of Competitions Carlos Fernandez, former U.S. men’s international Chris Wondolowski and Concacaf Moises Muñoz, and several of the clubs’ head coaches also participated in the live event.
