The Red Bulls Wednesday announced their 2022 regular season Major League League schedule. The 2022 MLS season will feature a full 34-match schedule leading up to Decision Day on Sunday, Oct. 9.
New York will be featured on MSG Networks for 30 of the 34 regular seasons games. The Red Bulls four national TV broadcasts will be split between ESPN and ABC. Full details of New York’s local telecast on MSG will be announced after the New Year.
The team will begin the season on the road for the first two matches, opening with San Jose on Saturday, Feb. 26, then traveling to Toronto FC the following Saturday, March 5. It will be the fifth time in franchise history that New York begin the season on the road for two games or more.
The Red Bulls will play crosstown rivals New York City FC, which captured the 2021 MLS Cup on Saturday, twice in the Hudson River Derby, once at Red Bull Arena and once at Yankee Stadium. The rivalry renews on Sunday, July 17 at RBA in a nationally televised match on ESPN as part of Heineken Rivalry Week. The season series concludes on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Yankee Stadium on MSG Networks.
Of the remaining matches, New York will have four back-to-back home matches and four back-to-back road game as they will not be at home or on the road more than two consecutive games. The Red Bulls first meeting with expansion side Charlotte on Saturday, June 11 will be nationally televised on ABC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The Red Bulls also will face Austin FC for the first time on Sunday, July 24 at Q2 Stadium.
The club will have four mid-week matches, two at home and two on the road. The remaining schedule will see 21 Saturday matches and nine Sunday games. The Red Bulls will play a home-and-home series with all 13 Eastern Conference opponents with the remaining eight games against Western Conference teams evenly split, four on the road and four at home.
The Red Bulls will host Decision Day on Sunday, October 9 against expansion-side Charlotte FC.
