Chris Armas reportedly will become an assistant coach again. 

Chris Armas’ Red Bulls connection has led him to the Manchester United staff.

Armas, the former head coach and assistant coach with the MLS squad, is set to become an assistant under newly named boss Ralf Rangnick on the English Premier League team, according to reports emanating out of England.

The 49-year-old Armas reportedly knows Rangnick via the Red Bull sporting department. Rangnick has worked in the organization in several roles for almost a decade. He Rangnick RB Leipzig manager during two tenures and worked as its sporting director. He was also Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg’s sporting director.

A Brentwood, N.Y. native, Armas had a difficult two stints as an MLS head coach. He took over for Jesse Marsch during the 2018 season as the Red Bulls went on to capture the Supporters’ Shield. He was sacked late in the 2020 campaign.

Armas resurfaced as the boss at Toronto FC, but was fired earlier this year as the Canadian side got off to a slow start.
