Hofstra University senior forward Miri Taylor was selected as a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. Taylor was selected as one of 15 players on the women’s side.

The Gillingham, England native became the third MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist in Hofstra program history as Leah Galton was in the running in 2015 and Lucy Porter this past spring. Taylor, Galton, and Porter are also the only semifinalists in Colonial Athletic Association history.

Taylor posted a magnificent senior campaign that saw her earn CAA attacking player of the year accolades as well as All-CAA honors for the fourth consecutive year. Taylor also earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors for the third time after topping the Hofstra single-season points list with 45. She cored 17 goals and added 11 assists, with her goal total tying for second all-time in a season at Hofstra. Taylor scored at least one point in 19-of-22 matches this past season.

She ranks second in total points, third in points per game, fourth in total goals, and fifth in goals per game.

Taylor is Hofstra’s all-time leader in assists (31), is fourth all-time with 97 points, and is tied for sixth with 33 goals.

Three women’s finalists will be named on Wednesday, Dec. 8 in conjunction with the Women’s College Cup in Santa Clara, Calif. The 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet and announcement will be held at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 7.
