It turned out to be another busy and historic night for U.S. men’s national team players in the UEFA Champions League.
A record six members of the squad started for their respective teams and seven players participated in matches on Tuesday.
Jordan Pefok scored the first goal of Young Boys’ 3-3 home draw with Atalanta.
And a pair of USMNT players faced off in two confrontations.

Double figures for Pefok
Pefok tallied in the 39th minute to give the Swiss side a 1-0 lead over its Italian Serie A rivals. The striker has found the net 10th time across all competitions this season, the most by an American player on top-tier teams in European leagues. The goal was Pefok’s first since Sept. 25.

Pulisic’s team 4, McKennie’s side 0
* In the first of two USMNT vs. USMNT confrontations, Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea side prevailed, crushing Juventus, 4-0, in a Group H match. Pulisic, who started in his first game since World Cup qualifying in Septemberm played 72 minutes before he was replaced by Timo Werner. The midfielder, however, was hardly a factor. Juve’s Weston McKennie had an energetic game although it was his mistake that led to Chelsea’s final goal, by Werner, five minutes into second-half stoppage time.
The win boosted the Blues, who are atop the English Premier League, its the UCL knockout round as Juventus suffered its worst UCL defeat ever.
Chelsea hosts Manchester United, which won Group F with a 2-0 triumph at Villarreal, on Sunday.
Weah’s squad 1, Aaronson’s team 0
In the second encounter between two USA teammates, Tim Weah’s Lille, edged Brenden Aaronson’s RB Salzburg, 1-0 to grab the Group G lead. Weah, one of the biggest contributors of the USMNT’s last two qualifiers, played 84 minutes, while Aaronson performed in 85 minutes.
Lille is 2-1-2 with eight points, a point ahead of second-place Salzburg (2-2-1, 7).
Blanked on the road
Center back John Brooks went 88 minutes in Wolfsburg’s 2-0 loss at Sevilla. Last-place Wolfsburg (five points) dropped to 1-2-2.
Dest’s cameo appearance
Sergino Dest came on for the final four minutes and injury time for Barcelona in its 0-0 home draw with Benfica. Barca is in second place in Group E with a 2-2-1 record and seven points.
In Group A games, Tyler Adams and RB Leipzig (Germany) take on Club Brugge (Belgium) and Zack Steffen and Manchester City (Enland) meets PSG (France).
