CHICAGO – U.S. national team head coach Gregg Berhalter Sunday added New York City FC defender James Sands to the roster for the World Cup qualifier against Jamaica in Kingtson on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Midfielder Weston McKennie (yellow card accumulation) and defender Miles Robinson (red card) are suspended for one match following the USA’s 2-0 win over Mexico in Cincinnati on Friday night. Both have departed camp.

Sands, 21, has made seven appearances for the USMNT, all in 2021. After making his debut against Haiti in the USA’s opening match of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, he appeared in all six matches as the United States were crowned tournament champions. Sands started in the 4-1 win away to Honduras in World Cup qualifying on Sept. 8 in San Pedro Sula.

Following Friday’s 2-0 win against Mexico in Cincinnati, the USMNT heads to Jamaica on top of the Octagonal standings. The teams met Oct. 7 in Austin, Texas, where eighteen-year-old forward Ricardo Pepi scored twice to spark the USMNT to a 2-0 shutout win in front of a sellout crowd of 20,500 at Q2 Stadium..

Tuesday’s match can be seen on Paramount+ and Universo
