HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University standouts Lucy Porter and Lucy Shepherd were recognized for their success off the pitch on Thursday afternoon as they were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
The 2021 Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Porter and Shepherd earned the honor for the second consecutive season. The two honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
Porter, a 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America first team honoree, owns a 3.87 grade-point average as a community health major. Recently, Porter captured her third straight Colonial Athletic Association midfielder of the year honor and fourth consecutive All-CAA first team nod after compiling 23 points this season via six goals and 11 assists. For her career, Porter has racked up 121 career points from 47 goals and 27 assists.
Shepherd has a 3.78 GPA as a finance major. She is second on the team with 27 points this season, and has scored eight goals and 11 assists. Shepherd was named to the All-CAA second team for the third successive season, and has 74 points from 26 goals and 24 assists for her career.
Porter, Shepherd and Hofstra are back in action in the NCAA Division I first round game at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m.
