ELON, N.C. – A deciding goal during the 59th minute by Miri Taylor helped the Hofstra University women claim its fourth Colonial Athletic Association title in the past five seasons Sunday en route to a 2-1 win over Northeastern University at Rudd Field at Elon University.

Hofstra earned the CAA automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. The 64-team field will be revealed as part of a live selection show streaming on NCAA.com on Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Jordan Littleboy floated a right-footed ball into the box from 30 yards. Taylor headed the ball inside the right post to cap off a come-from-behind victory for Hofstra.

Taylor’s goal gave her 42 points, setting a Hofstra season program record.

The Huskies struck first during the 18th minute when Rose Kaefer found the back of the net, but the Pride answered moments later when Lucy Shepherd scored her second goal of the championship on the right side of the penalty area.

Despite outshooting Northeastern 8-2 in the first half, the 1-1 score line carried into halftime before Taylor’s 16th goal of the season. Hofstra held a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Skyler Kuzmich made two saves.

Taylor, Littleboy, Shepherd, and Lucy Porter were named to the 2021 CAA Championship All-Tournament team, while Porter was named the Most Outstanding Player.
