HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Wessel Speel made four saves as the No. 14 Hofstra University men played UNCW to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in the regular season finale for both teams.

The tie put Hofstra’s record at 14-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks are 9-6-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the CAA. Hofstra had already clinched a spot in the CAA Championship and still has a chance to earn the regular season title pending results from Saturday night’s CAA action.

The Pride outshot the Seahawks, 17-12, and held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. The Pride appeared to have won the game late in the second extratime but had the goal waved off due to an offside call.

Hofstra registered its fifth consecutive shutout. It was Speel’s eighth this season.

UNCW goalkeeper Gabriel Perrotta made six saves for his sixth shutout.

Hofstra will find out its next opponent following the conclusion of Saturday’s matches.
