ELON, N.C. – The second-seeded Hofstra University women are set to compete for its fourth Colonial Athletic Association title in the last five seasons against the fourth-seeded Northeastern University Sunday at 1 p.m.

The match will be streamed live on FloFC from Elon University’s Rudd Field. In addition, live statistics will also be available. Coverage links can be found at the top of this release and on the Hofstra women’s soccer schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra clinched a spot in the championship match with a 1-0 win over third-seeded James Madison University Thursday evening. Fifth-year forward Lucy Shepherd curled in a corner kick in the 67th minute that took a deflection off of a JMU defender into the back of the net. The Pride dominated the match start to finish, posting a 19-1 shot margin and 10-0 corner kick advantage. Hofstra also earned its 12th shutout of the season, tying a Pride program record.

Northeastern (9-8-1, 5-4-0) will play in its first CAA final since 2017 when the Huskies fell to the Pride at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Huskies reached the final after a 1-0 victory over regular season champions, UNCW, as Kayla McCauley found the back of the net in the 88th minute.

Earlier this season, the Huskies defeated Hofstra for the Pride’s first conference loss. Rose Kaefer tallied the game-winner back Oct. 14, though the Pride had several chances, outshooting Northeastern University, 25-9 for the match.

Hofstra is 17-10-3 all-time against Northeastern. The Pride is unbeaten in three of its last four meetings.
