SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The St. John’s University women kicked off a two-game road swing with a 1-0 Big East win over Seton Hall University at Owen T. Carroll Field Thursday night.

Senior Maia Cabrera provided the offense for the Johnnies (8-5-2, 4-3-1), recording the game-winner in the 44th minute. This was Cabrera’s second goal of the season and the fifth of her Red Storm career. Junior Angelina Scoma registered the first assist of her collegiate career.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Naya Lipkens picked her seventh clean sheet, stopping three Seton Hall (6-10, 1-7) shots.

Shots were 15-7 in favor of the Red Storm, including a 6-3 advantage on attempts on goal.

The Red Storm broke through in the 44th minute. The sequence began as Scoma sent a long pass up to Cabrera just outside just the 18-yard box. The Rego Park, N.Y. native rocketed a left-footed blast to the right side of the cage.

St. John’s visits Creighton University at 2 p.m. Sunday.
