Red Bulls II finished off its home schedule in style Wednesday night, recording a 3-0 USL Championship win over Loudoun United at MSU Soccer Park in Montclair, N.J.
NYRBII (24 points), which is unbeaten in its last four matches (1-0-3), raised its record to 6-17-7 while Loudoun United (15) fell to 4-22-5.
New York opened the scoring in the 19th minute, when defender Juan Castillo gathered the ball and whipped in a cross into the 18-yard box. Forward Luther Archimede volleyed the ball over Loudoun’s goalkeeper before a crowd of 520.
In the 47th minute, defender Mandela Egbo was taken down in Loudoun’s box and earned a penalty kick. Forward Cameron Harper placed the ball in the top left corner to extend the lead with his first professional goal.
Nine minutes later, Harper played a long ball across the field in the stride of Egbo, who curled his effort to the far post and scored New York’s third goal and his third of the season.
Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci, who recorded his third shutout of the campaign, made seven saves, including a penalty-kick stop in the 38th minute. He has made three PK saves this season.
