Here’s how tight and perhaps ridiculous the United Soccer Coaches Division I women’s poll can be.

Hofstra University won twice, yet it dropped two spots to 12th place in the weekly rankings, which were released by the organization Tuesday afternoon.

The Pride earned two big victories last week, first defeating the University of Delaware, 4-0, before edging out UNCW, a top-40 RPI team, 2-1, in extratime.

Hofstra (12-1, 4-0), which has won nine games in a row, also moved up to seventh place in women’s soccer RPI, its highest ranking.

Senior forward Miri Taylor recorded another seven points this week and now ranks first in the nation in points (35), points per game (2.69) and goals (14). Colonial Athletic Association offensive player of the week Lucy Porter registered five assists, and is fourth nationally with 0.82 assists per game.

The Pride look toward a pair of CAA matches this week, both at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Hofstra will host Northeastern University Thursday at 7 p.m. before welcoming William & Mary College Sunday at noon.
