MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Hofstra University saw its seven-game winning streak come to as the men played to a 1-1 draw at the College of Charleston at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (3-5-3, 0-4-1) scored in the final minute of regulattion to send the game to extratime and neither team was able to score in the extra sessions.

Hofstra moves to 10-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association.. The Pride is unbeaten in their last eight games (7-0-1).

The teams played a scoreless first half though Hofstra dominated on the stat sheet. The visitors took 10 shots, had two shots on goal and recorded 10 corner kicks while the Cougars managed just three shots with none on goal and no corner kicks. Cameron Smith was up to the task in the Cougars goal as he saved the two Hofstra shots on goal.

Ryan Carmichael scored his team-best 10th goal of the season in the 51st minute to give the Pride the 1-0 lead as he converted a pass from Matthew Vowinkel and sent a shot into the lower left corner of the net. The score remained that way until the final minute when Charleston tied the game with a goal off the right foot of Liam Hudock with 40 seconds remaining.

Hofstra finished with a season-high 20 shots in the game with nine on goal. Hofstra keeper Wessel Speel mad three saves, while Smith had eight.

Hofstra hosts NJIT next Saturday at Hofstra Soccer Stadium at 5 p.m.
