The final score said New York City FC 0, Nashville SC 0.
But it looks like the host side suffered a major loss Sunday.
Right back Anton Tinnerholm could be out for the rest of the MLS season with probably Achilles injury.
“I’m not a doctor of course, but it doesn’t look good, that I can say,” NYYCFC head coach Ronny Deila said. “It’s a big chance that it’s the Achilles and that can be a long period out. But I don’t know, but it does look bad, I have to say that.”
Tinnerholm, one of the top right backs in the league on both sides of the ball, dropped to the turf in pain without making any contact with another player.
“We’re very sad for what happened to him,” forward Taty Castellanos said. “We will be there to help him and support him. Being injured is very complicated, we’ll see what result come back and we hope it’s not that severe. He is a very important player for us. He brings a lot of experience and playing time. He has played almost every game. It’s a shame and we just have to support him with what’s to come, with his recovery so we can raise his sprits and for him to raise ours for what is left of the season.”
Bronx native Tayvon Gray replaced Tinnerholm in the 33rd minute and acquitted himself well.
“I think he did well,” Deila said. “It is not easy to come on when you don’t expect to come on and then suddenly something happens. So I think he did well. Anton is an important player on-and-off the pitch for us so that’s going to be a loss of course, but that is part of football we need to deal with. This will give a chance for others.
“Tyron did a good job today and it’s something to just keep on improving for him. We can get more experience for him. He’s played well every time he gets the chance.”
