HARRISON, N.J. – In Scott Parkinson’s debut as head coach, NJ/NY Gotham FC snapped a six-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over the North Carolina Courage in a National Women’s Soccer League game at Red Bull Arena Saturday afternoon.

Sixth-place Gotham FC (25 points) improved to 6-5-7 while third-place North Carolina (29) dropped to 8-6-5.

After the Courage grabbed a 1-0 lead on Angharad James’ goal in the 20th minute, the hosts roared back with three unanswered scores.

Carli Lloyd converted a penalty kick to level the game after Midge Purce was fouled in the box in the 28th minute. Purce scored herself after Ifeoma Onumonu made a run down the right flank in the 36th minute.

Paige Monaghan added an insurance tally in the 88th minute off a Evelyne Viens pass.
