HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra University women improved their position in two national polls this week as the Pride moved up two spots in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The squad also is 12th in the Top Drawer Soccer national rankings.

Hofstra increased its record to 7-1-0 this past weekend with two shutout victories over Bucknell University and Yale University. Hofstra is on a four-match winning streak and has shut out three of its last four opponents.

The Pride has outscored opponents, 12-1, the last four matches. Senior forward Miri Taylor recorded a team-high eight points last weekend and ranks first in the nation in points (21), fourth in goals (8) and fifth in points per game. The fifth-year forward Lucy Shepherd ranks inside the top-15 nationally in points (16). She has five goals and a team-high six assists.

A top-25 matchup is in store for the Pride as its next opponent, Princeton, jumped into the Top-25 rankings at No. 22. Princeton is not ranked in this week’s Top Drawer Soccer top-25 poll.

The top-two spots in the USC poll remained intact as Florida State topped the rankings with 32 votes while the University of North Carolina was in second.
