NEWARK, Del. – Behind two-goal efforts from juniors Griffin Tomas and Julian Gomez and another shutout for redshirt senior Sean Murray, the Monmouth University men defeated the University of Delaware Tuesday night, 4-0.

Monmouth improved to 2-0-1.

“It was a very committed performance by the boys tonight,” Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt said. “I’m happy we continue to score on our chances, and Murray was fantastic again in goal. Delaware is a strong program in the CAA, so this is a nice win for us.”

Tomas opened the scoring in the 38th minute and closed the scoring in the 90th minute. Gomez added goals in the 41st and 72nd minute, extending his scoring streak to nine games.

Graduate student Jonas Lindner, freshman Brett Sieg, junior Ben Zakowski, and freshman Jonas Lyshoj each added an assist.

Murray stopped four shot attempts to secure his second consecutive shutout.

Monmouth will travel to UConn Saturday night.
