Tim Weah will have to wait until the October WCQ window at the earliest to play for the USMNT again (Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports)
Lille forward Tim Weah won’t attend U.S. men’s national team training camp for World Cup qualifying in September due to an injury, U.S. Soccer announced Monday morning.
The exact nature of Weah’s injury was addressed and neither was the extent of it.
There was no word whether a replacement will be added to the USA roster.
Weah did not play in Lille’s in 2-1 win vs. Montpellier Sunday.
The USMNT will kick off its WCQ schedule by playing three matches – two in Central America – within a seven-day period. On Thursday, the Americans will visit El Salvador before hosting Canada in Nashville, Tenn Sunday, Sept. 5. They will complete the week by traveling to Honduras Sept. 8.
